Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Shane offers a very satisfying Western. It's not my favorite example of the genre - I really loved Stagecoach - but it works well overall and provides a compelling experience. The DVD features mediocre picture and audio along with a generally informative commentary. The movie remains a classic, but the DVD has problems. Starring Alan Ladd, Jack Palance.

3. Alien: 2003 Special Edition (Alien Quadrilogy Boxed Set) (1979)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: ... the 2003 DVD of Alien is a killer. The movie earned its status as an innovative classic, and despite some slow spots, it holds up well after all these years. The DVD presents startlingly excellent picture with dated but generally positive audio plus an excellent and deep set of supplements. For Alien fans, this set is a genuine treat. Starring Sigour

Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Without question, Blade Runner is a movie that belongs in your collection, and if you already own the vastly inferior 1997 DVD, you should chuck it out the window and upgrade to this “Final Cut” set immediately.
